ENERGY To Create Sin
Everything in this world or labeled 'of this world' has energy attached to it. That energy is part of this world's system and derives its power from the demonic. James says:
"Let no man say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death" (James 2:13-15).
James puts it this way: A person is tempted to commit sin when he is drawn or magnetized toward something that is prohibited. But what is it that draws him? The strong and subtle energy infused into the thing or action tempts or pulls the person toward it to do it. It is the same energy the serpent exercised in the Garden of Eden when he lured Eve:
When the devil said to Eve, "...God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil,"
he infused energy into the idea of the fruit and Eve saw three things about the fruit that fused with something in her: the TREE was good for food, it was delightful to the eye, and it was desirable to make one wise," so she plucked a fruit from the tree and took a bite!
The energy or magnetism attached by the devil to things in this world attracts a person who has an affinity or desire for it. Unless it is resisted, the energy plus the person's desire combine or conceive to form either an act of commission or omission, an output God calls sin.
When Eve listened to the serpent, the forbidden fruit took on energy that drew her into satan's scheme. The fruit was good to eat, attractive and able to make her wise in discerning good and evil...or so she thought! The energy drew her into plucking the fruit, holding it, examining it and finally eating it. To her it tasted good, so she offered it to her husband and he ate of it, also. The lust for the world's energy drew the pair to do the forbidden. James calls it 'lust.' The lust to relish something delicious, the lust of the eye for beauty, and the lust of the pride of life pulled Adam and Eve across the line into committing an unthinkable act birthed from energy plus lust.
For the believer walking in the Spirit, incidents, objects and personal relationships possess energies of various types and forms. Each has the capacity to draw a person away from God and the Spirit into committing sin. It is up to him to shun things that he or she knows have an appeal to their soul-nature and are utterly repudiated by God.
What about the energy that exists in the things that surround us? How do we deal with it so it can't draw us into committing sin? When you face a dispute with another person, or you taste, smell, hear or feel something that you know is contrary to the holiness of God and your walk with Him, what should you do? If something will cause you to act in a way that is displeasing or contrary to the will of God, there is something you can and should do. In that moment of temptation ask God to remove the energy from that object that is tempting you to sin. When you ask in sincerity, God will remove the magnetism or energy from that argument you had with another person; He will calm you and bring absolute peace and freedom from the energy of wanting to make a purchase you know you should not make, for instance. He removes the energy from the object, and that conveyer of energy becomes a dead issue with no power to draw you to it. You can bring it to mind, but it has no capacity to stir negative emotions or retaliation within you.
When God frees you from the power of that energy, turn over that potential but dead issue in your mind and emotions to the Holy Spirit for Him to occupy and possess. What freedom you will have. What undisturbed peace! Try it!
