Submission and Obedience

Today's Prophets: True or False?

God gave the Church the five-fold ministry of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers to build up the body of Christ. 'Modern day' prophets' words or prophecies are not to be regarded as absolute Scripture. The prophecies about Jesus' coming, Israel's restoration and many other topics that we read in the Bible are unalterable, and no more words through prophets are being added to God's documented Word for us to follow.

Today's prophets are intended to know God's heart and to declare it to the Church when it is timely and warranted. Such were the dreams of Dana Coverstone, a pastor in Kentucky not looking for notoriety. His posts on Facebook sent shock waves through the body of Christ. I know that the first time I watched his video my heart was gripped! Because so many things nationally were going haywire, it wasn't hard to believe that he was right...but I didn't want them to be right!

Many people who heard Coverstone's prophecies, for that's essentially what they are and were, poo-poohed them, saying he was a gloom and doom guy. They said the same thing about Jeremiah when the prophet began declaring the awful days coming to Judah because of her falling away from God. In fact, during the course of his declarations Jeremiah was imprisoned, stoned, etc., for the cause of God's truth. He had been warned ahead of time by God that the people would not listen to him and would treat him unjustly. Yet, he was faithful to the message.

The people of Jeremiah's day poo-poohed what he said. They turned to the false prophets instead, who declared coming days of peace and safety. Their words were positive and reassuring, pleasant to the ears. Jeremiah's words were rejected and so was he. However, all through Jeremiah's prophecies there were words of hope IF the people would turn back to God and seek His ways they had once followed. They chose false prophets, instead. God calls such disobedience against His word rebellion and insubordination (I Samuel 15:23).

Right to the end before captivity, when God wanted Judah to free their indentured servants whom they had held captive far longer than the permitted six years, the people clung to their un-Godly practices. They set their servants free in a moment of fear, but retracted and took their servants back into slavery once more. That was the final straw! The people would not turn back to God and mean it! They went into exile as a result. But they could have avoided exile if they had humbled themselves and turned back to God instead!

The same thing applies to the United States. The Church for the most part has been soundly asleep, ignorant or uncaring about what was happening in all spheres of government and society to corrupt and undermine it. Donald Trump was elected in 2016. The Church should have wakened and gotten busy winning souls and being about the Father's business like eradicating abortion and reinstating God's word into our culture. For the most part, everything remained status quo, instead. The devil kept attention focused on the false allegations against Trump through the Mueller investigation, Ukraine phone call nonsense, and so on, so evil could wreak havoc in plain sight. And, the Church did not speak out!

In the fall of 2018 President Trump entertained over 100 evangelical leaders in a closed-door session that did not allow the media's presence. Fortunately, against the President's wishes, someone in the meeting recorded what he said or it would be lost---because those leaders did not follow Trump's urgent plea for the Church to vote Republican in November because the Democrats hated him and hated Christians because so many loved him. Lance Wallnau got a hold of that recording, but it was too late for the November elections. The House was overrun with Left-wingers of the most radical ilk. We know what Adam Schiff tried to do to keep the waters troubled: he waged impeachment proceedings.

Where were the evangelical leaders? Why didn't they rise up? They were too divided over Trump and how awful a man he was, and his past life, and on and on. They failed to see what God was trying to do in the United States.

Then came 2020 and COVID-19. True, COVID gave many believers more time to think, pray, repent and draw closer to God. But many watched a lot more TV rather than praying more. COVID didn't shake the Church enough!

Even before COVID officially was recognized (December has been shown to be when it was in the US already infecting people). Coverstone posted his first dream on Facebook. It went viral! So, it was timed with the COVID shut-down enough that people who would pray about it did pray.

II Chronicles 7:14 came into play. REPENTANCE! The Church needed to repent! She was asleep, she was idolatrous, she was lax, she was too involved in the world.

Coverstone's dreams and prophecies of gloom and doom continued. Why? To send the Church to her knees IF SHE WOULD! Again many poo-poohed Coverstone and others who had similar dreams or visions. But there were enough believers who were faithful that caught God's message, repented and prayed. Intercessors for America is one organization that carried the ball. Unite 714 is a new prayer group that formed to pray specifically about COVID, but still brought believers to their knees in prayer.

Jonathan Cahn's books, which are many, were not complete; he knew that when he wrote The Harbinger. Then, in 2020 he knew he must write The Harbinger II, which was published in the fall. Concurrently, God put on his heart to stage a rally in Washington DC in late September. The date fell on a Jewish Feast day! The rally was a call to repentance for the Church.

Sean Feucht knew he had to hold a rally on the National Mall, as well, on October 24. Lance Wallnau followed on October 31, just three days before the elections. Each rally was progressively more passionate and focused on God and His will...and repentance.

It's true that there were positive prophecies prior to those dates. However, God gives prophetic warning to His people so they can pray and meet the shortcomings of His people that occasioned the prophecy in the first place. He issues dire warnings first but those prophecies are alterable depending on the attitude and receptivity of His professed followers. That is what happened in the United States. People may say Coverstone was a false prophet, but, in reality, he conveyed the message God gave His people: to pray and repent and effect a change in our nation---rather make it possible for God to do miracles and wonders to expose ungodliness and bring about righteousness.

Trump won the election by legal vote. It would take a miracle for him to realize a second term. However, God is the one Who elevates individuals to rule and He takes them down, as well. Whether or not the outcome is what you or I expected or hoped for, there is something it should point us to: Luke 21:25 and forward says:

There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. "Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

"But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."

So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near. Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away...keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.

What is yet to be seen is if the Church will be fired up to glorify God and stand with Him for righteousness. What I fear is that she will become comfortable or fearful and lose her fervor! If that happens, woe to us and the world!

What will the Church do? What will she BE? It all depends on US to pray! And to lift up our heads, because our redemption is soon to come!
