FIRST DEATH, SECOND DEATH...
The First Death occurs as the soul/spirit leave the body when bodily functions cease.
The First Death is complete when, in hell, the image of God is stripped from the person that died without Jesus' salvation.
Hell is the torment that follows that image removal, void of any presence of God.
The Second Death occurs following the Great White Throne Judgment (Revelation 20:11-15), when all works of the person being 'tried' are exposed. It is those that will condemn him or her to eternal punishment in the Lake of Fire. That is called the Second Death.
God has permitted certain individuals to go to hell and 'taste' the torment. They come back to the present day to tell others about hell's reality, so they can repent and avoid its horrors.
God has never let anyone visit the Second Death, because the Great White Throne Judgment must occur first. It will be suffering so severe and without measure that no one could tolerate seeing or feeling even one second of it.
It is enough to know about hell and to avoid it. If persons are not willing to believe in its reality, they don't need to know the depths of the Second Death.
Howard Pittman said only two percent of professed Christians actually make it into Heaven when they die. About ninety-seven percent don't go where they expect to go! They are part of the Laodicean church that seeks wealth and pleasure and are given an opportunity to repent by Jesus. Most will not heed, except that tribulation is lowered on them.
The majority of earth's population will end up at the Great White Throne Judgment and then be plunged into the Lake of Fire termed the Second Death.
