Submission and Obedience

You have only one thing you can truly claim as yours. No one has what you have exactly, and you have only one. It is unique to you. You inherited it when you were conceived. It can never be taken from you. However, you have the right to give it up.

It can never belong to anyone else. It is peculiarly yours and yours alone. It is your soul.

Your soul comprises your life and personality, your intelligence and your will. It makes you who you are. Your soul drives your decisions and desires. It is your identity, your person. It is YOU.

Jesus warns us to be careful about what we do with our soul. We can exchange it for this world's goods. We can cling to what we get and call our acquisitions 'our own. But if the price we pay for those possessions forfeits our access to eternal life, is it really worth it?

Jesus asked His disciples: "...what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" Matthew 16:26.

It is not wrong to own things. The problem arises when those things own you. The difference is tremendous and determines your destiny.

The apostle John, who loved Jesus dearly, said this: "Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever." I John 2:15-17.

The easiest way to know what side of the fence you're on is to come to God in absolute surrender of all you are and have. When you are willing to give up everything, yes, everything to follow Jesus wherever He takes you, when you surrender to His will for your future and even TODAY, you are on the right track! You have reclaimed your soul from the devil's downward spiral and put it into Jesus' hands.

You see, you have a soul but it really isn't yours, after all. You give it either to the devil by collecting things of the world, or you give it to Jesus for His will to be done through you. But you really do not own it. You will serve either the enemy of your soul or Jesus. That decision is up to you.

Maybe you counter the argument: But I want to control what happens to me! To that comes the answer: YOU ARE DELUSIONAL! You think you are in control of your life. By your very declaration, you confirm that the devil moves you like a puppet to do what he wants you to do to achieve his intentions. He even uses you to further condemn other souls by your example and influence.

Satan is an evil spirit that uses you to accomplish his wishes through suggestion and desire. You have relinquished the use of your soul to him to continue your pathway to damnation and he has you fooled!

Who, then, owns your soul? The devil or Jesus? You are the power broker. If your answer is 'the devil,' then you have already lost everything.

If Jesus owns your soul, you have gained eternal life and all it holds in store for you. While you're on earth, your life may not bear the glamor and luxury the world promises. You will meet rejection and even persecution. But, you no longer live for what you can acquire in this life. Your treasures are being laid up in heaven's bank as you follow the Holy Spirit and His directions.

When your soul belongs to God, He unites you to Himself and His fellowship. Nothing the world offers can hold a candle to even one minute spent in God's presence. Literally, it is out of this world!

Advice: Trade up! And make a fortune!
